Why Facebook Home bothers me: It destroys any notion of privacy

I am not particularly worried (anymore) by the stuff that Facebook, or other companies for that matter, are trying to get away with. They have done it over and over again and either pulled it off or met with (some) resistance.

No, what worries me is that apparently companies like Facebook, Google and others first have to announce this stuff or even have to implement it, before governments, lawmakers, advocacy groups, etc. seem to start thinking about what the implications of these kinds of applications and services are.

it’s been over a month since i closed my FB account…

it’s been over a month since i closed my FB account. i’m enjoying it’s absence in my life! however, it has made a few inconveniences. i never realised how many sites/platforms require use with ONLY your FB account? on the upside, anything i want to share with my friends, becomes a personal and intimate sharing with no worries of any privacy sensitivities. we rely too much on FB. it distances us from people, although it apparently appears the complete opposite…
